Holbeach to see work on new sewer pipes and pumping station from Monday
Work on new sewer pipes and a pumping station in Holbeach as part of a £1.5million project by Anglian Water is to start next week.
The work is to take place at the Peppermint Park development, off the A17 and A151, from Monday and will provide more than 1.5kms of new sewerage for the town.
As a result of the project, Boston Road North will be closed for four weeks, from Monday, September 28, until Friday, October 23, for the safety of Anglian Water engineers and drivers who normally use the route.
The work is expected to be completed by March 2021 and David Hartley, spokesman for Anglian Water, said: "The Peppermint Junction development is significant within the area of Holbeach and this work is essential to ensure that our network is fit to meet the demands of a growing population.
"With work already well under way to aid the continuous supply of water to the area, now it is time for us to begin installing the new sewer pipes and pumping station.
"This work will ensure that local customers can turn on their taps and flush their toilets without a second thought.”
Work to install sewer pipes and a pumping station is the next stage of project to improve Holbeach's water main system and serve the Peppermint Park site that started in April.
Engineers laid about 2kms of water main in fields near Whaplode, with a further 2kms laid in fields alongside the A151 itself before drilling under the road took place to connect the new pipe to the existing water network.
As well as homes and businesses, the new system will also serve the new South Holland Food Enterprise Zone and Centre of Excellence in Agri-food Technology, part of the University of Lincoln's National Centre for Food Manufacturing.
Speaking in April, Mr Hartley said: "We have planned this work to ensure that new pipework is installed in adjacent fields, wherever possible, helping to reduce the amount of disruption for local road users and residents throughout the scheme.
"Our staff are continuing to work hard to ensure that supplies and services are maintained for customers right across the region."
