Popular Spalding wedding venue hopes to offer outdoor marriage ceremonies
A popular Spalding wedding venue hopes to be offering outdoor ceremonies if it gets planning consent for a beautiful wedding pavilion.
Springfields Events and Conference Centre already hosts civil weddings and some couples request blessings outside in the patio garden.
Springfields chief executive David Norton said: "People have asked if they can get married outside but you can only do that in a fixed building."
So a wedding pavilion - similar to a bandstand - could be installed in the patio garden.
"It's an octagonal wedding pavilion that's been used in other areas of the country," said David.
The white painted structure lends itself to couples choosing a decorative theme as they do with the centre's primary wedding venue, the marquee suite.
David said: "We are investing a few thousand pounds not only in the building itself but to create the right garden environment surrounding it."
The aim is to make the patio garden an even more picturesque setting, and the planting scheme will include new trees.
The events centre hosts 18-20 weddings each year and is looking forward to offering couples an opportunity to marry outside.
David said the pavilion will also be available for garden parties and it will be a nice space for bands to play for private parties and corporate events.
As well as hosting weddings, Springfields is the setting for popular wedding shows.
