Spalding thief already in jail admits another offence

A serving prisoner who stole from a Spalding store has been given another two weeks' prison sentence but will not serve extra jail time.

Aron Findley Duff (31), currently at Lincoln Prison but living in Spalding at the time of the offence, stole £40 worth of washing powder from Iceland on March 4. He sold it for £20 in order to buy amphetamines, magistrates at Boston heard on Wednesday.

At the time of this court case Duff was already serving a 23 weeks custodial sentence for another theft.

Mitigating, Gordon Holt told the magistrates Duff had been stealing to fund his drug habit and said that had these thefts been before the court when he was sentenced on May 23, ‘it would have made little or no difference to his sentence’.

In addition to the two week sentence, which will be served alongside his current sentence, Duff will have to pay £30 compensation to Iceland.
