Enter for sixth Spalding Education Awards
Nominations are open for the sixth Spalding Guardian and Lincolnshire Free Press
Education Awards.
Pupils, staff and governors from pre-schools, primaries and secondary schools across south Lincolnshire are being recognised for thriving during a year like no other.
The awards we had planned for 2020 fell victim to the coronavirus pandemic as did so many other events.
But, fingers crossed, we can honour worthy recipients once again, at the South Holland Centre in Spalding on Thursday, July 8.
And those nominated this year will be so worthy, with teachers and pupils having to adjust to home learning and then to different practices when back together.
Guardian editor Jeremy Ransome said: “We have some wonderful educational establishments in the district and these awards celebrate the many achievements in our schools.
“Just because students and teachers spent quite a bit of time learning from home in the last year, it doesn’t mean there were not some extraordinary achievements.Quite the opposite in fact.
“As a father of two teenage girls who were due to take GCSE examinations this summer, I know students have worked as hard as ever and have faced challenges different to normal years.
“Teachers and support staff have also undergone a huge change in their working patterns and many have had to go above and beyond to make sure their students get the education they deserve.
“Please take the chance to nominate and allow them to get some deserved recognition for students and teachers who have made a difference in the most difficult of years.”
