Entries coming in for sixth Education Awards
Nominations have started to come in for the sixth Spalding Guardian and Lincolnshire Free Press Education Awards.
We are once again recognising and celebrating pupils, staff and governors from pre-schools, primaries and secondary schools across south Lincolnshire for their achievements – and this time it has been a year like no other.
Our planned 2020 awards bit the dust because of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, as did so many other events.
But, with all the signs currently pointing to a return to near-normality next month, we plan to honour worthy recipients once again, at the South Holland Centre in Spalding on Thursday, July 8.
And those nominated this year will have earned their accolades more than ever, as teaching and learning practices changed so much with the advent of home learning, class bubbles and social distancing.
Guardian editor Jeremy Ransome said: “It is a true testament to our education establishments that they have managed to keep excelling during the last 14 months, especially in times of lockdown.
“Students have coped wonderfully well, adjusting to different ways of learning, even culminating in the cancellation of the usual GCSE and A-Levelexams as they know it.
“So it is more important than ever that we celebrate the wonderful educational establishments in the district.
“Teachers and support staff have also undergone a huge change in their working patterns and many have had to go above and beyond to make sure their students get the education they deserve.
“Please take the chance to nominate and allow them to get some deserved recognition for students and teachers who have made a difference in the most difficult of years.”
