Decision will soon be made on Spalding Wendy’s plans

A decision will soon be made on plans for a new American burger chain in Spalding.

An application submitted to South Holland District Council seeks approval for two single story restaurant/cafe units with associated drive thrus to be built at Lincs Gateway Business Park.

Although the application doesn’t mention Wendy’s specifically, it is understood this application refers to the building of the restaurant after plans to bring the chain to town were unveiled in this newspaper in January.

The application, submitted by by Dukesmead Industries, also includes plans for a further cafe with 42 parking spaces - although it has not yet been revealed who would be taking this site.

A planning statement adds that if the application is approved, the site would create between 22 and 30 ‘full time equivalent jobs’.

It also states: “The site is also situated in a strategic and prominent position on the local highway network and will provide enhanced facilities to drivers and support the existing service station located to the east of the application site.”

The district council’s planning portal estimates that a decision could be made on the plans by the end of June.
