Ofsted closes Spalding Little Treasures nursery after damning report
Ofsted forced the closure of a Spalding nursery during its inspection after finding that children in its care 'were not safe'.
Little Treasures, on Haverfield Road, was found to be 'inadequate' when inspectors visited in November.
A damning report states that the nursery was shut during the inspection after children were seen to be being 'handled physically in an inappropriate manner'.
The report, by inspector Lora Teague, reads: "Children are not safe, and we have therefore suspended the provider's registration during the inspection.
"Children are handled physically in an inappropriate manner by some staff.
"For example, children are pulled by their arms and restrained around their waist while they are visibly distressed.
"When children lay down to go to sleep, some staff throw their dummy at them and do not give them any comfort."
The report also raised concerns over the 'significantly poor quality of care and education' given to children and said that 'staff do not support children to behave well'.
The nursery had been labelled as 'outstanding' by Ofsted in 2014.
