Spalding family are frying high after being ranked in the country's top 10 chip vans
A Spalding family is frying high after being named one of the country’s top mobile fish and chip vans.
Oh My Cod owners Sandy and Bill Rai are over the moon that their mobile van has been ranked highly by leading trade publication Fry Magazine.
Mr and Mrs Rai have also been overwhelmed to the response from the pubic since re-opening their Alexandra Road shop over Easter.

The couple have been running their mobile service for three years and serve the Whaplode, Moulton Seas End and Weston area.
Mrs Rai is thrilled to be on this list.
She said: “We are really proud to have been ranked in the top 10 mobile fish and chip operators. We have been listed on the top 50 takeaways a couple of years ago.
“We keep everything fresh by cooking to order and that makes a massive difference. We also use local potatoes for the chips and use natural batter.
“People really enjoy them.”
Although the van currently isn’t running, it would normally be manned by Mr Rai and the couple’s 16-year-old son Aman.
They are hoping to expand the van’s range once the lockdown has been lifted.
Mrs Rai said: “Both my husband and son really enjoy going out as it is completely different to working in the shop.”
“Our customers are really grateful as otherwise they would have to travel and the older generation are really pleased.”
The couple, who have owned Oh My Cod for six years, made the decision to open up over the Easter weekend after receiving messages from customers.
Mrs Rai said: “We have been doing this for 16 years and we have never been closed on Good Friday.
“We had a word with staff to find the best way of doing things and it is working well.
“It went crazy over Good Friday and we ended up staying later than we had anticipated.
“We have been surprised with the response. We didn’t realise that people were missing fish and chips so much.
“It is amazing to know that we are appreciated so much by our customers.”
The shop is open between Thursday and Satuday with the couple only taking phone orders.
Customers are allocated a time slot and asked to wait in their cars until their food is ready, which is then collected from a table at the shop entrance and contactless payment is taken.
Mrs Rai said: “It is working well. Every time I answer the phone we have another call coming through.
“We have had messages from people who are saying they cannot get through. We are working with a web designer so we are hoping to have click and collect by the end of the week.”
