Resident urges South Holland District Council to turn down plan for Premier off licence in Pinchbeck
A concerned resident is urging the district council to turn down an application for another village off licence.
Plans have been submitted by Nilesh Odedra to transform the former Paul Hammond and Sons building at 75 Church Street in Pinchbeck into a convenience store.
A licence has already been granted for the shop - despite a string of objections - but it now needs planning permission to re-open in a new guise and with longer opening hours.
The site is next to a pedestrian crossing near the junction of Spalding Road and Knight Street.
Concerned resident Karl Stokes said: “People will be parking on the road right outside the shop. It will be dangerous for people who want to cross the road.
“It will cause a lot of traffic problems and I think there will be alot of people hanging around there.
“We just don’t want it there. It is too many shops in a close proximity, I think it will be dangerous being so close to the road.”
The village already has two Spar stores - with the former Mace just recently being rebranded and revamped.
A design and access statement submitted to South Holland District Council with the plans stated: “The proposed has been designed to sit comfortably on the site and compliment the surrounding area whilst still meeting the needs for the use of the building.
“This is a modest proposal utilising an existing building as a canvas to further develop the local area, maintaining the original use. The proposal is to serve the local people, both in the near future but the extended future as this area goes through development and expansion.”
Visuals suggest it would be a Premier store.
