The Sessions House in Spalding welcomed more than 400 people to it’s second successful art exhibition

Exhibition organisers say there is a ‘huge demand’ to improve the town art scene, after more than 400 visitors attended the successful event.

The Sessions House in Spalding brought together art enthusiasts from across the county for its second exhibition, which took place at the weekend (February 22 and 23).

Abstract artist and organiser Joey Lowe wanted the event to highlight talent in our area and improve the town’s art scene.

He said: “It was the most successful exhibition we have had at The Sessions House. We saw more than 400 people visit across the weekend – I think there’s clearly a huge demand for it in this town.

“The artists who attend sold more than 40 bits of artwork and every time we host these events it just keeps getting better.

“It helps boost their confidence and for a lot of them it was a good way to network and meet new people.

“For a couple of the exhibitors it was their first time and that was an extremely positive experience and has encouraged them to take it further and attend other exhibitions.”

Visitors were able to admire a range of mediums from more than 30 artists.

Some of these included watercolour paintings, abstract artists, graffiti work, photography, collages, sketches and a handful of modern art.

Owners of The Sessions House, Erika Yao and Andrew Blach, allowed Joey to host the event at the historic venue free of charge.

Erika Yao said: “People really like the evening gallery opening which we noticed from our last event. I think this is because it combines the gallery with going out and it makes it a bit more casual and a social gathering for people to get together.

“We had the bar open and everyone was in good spirits and lots of the people who attended the event, including some of the artists, actually went to the clubs afterwards.”

Plans are currently in the pipeline for the next event however, a date has not yet been set.
