The 80th annual Golden Globe Awards take place this Tuesday night in the States – or in the early hours of Wednesday morning (January 11) this side of the Atlantic.

Here’s a rundown of which of the major award category-nominated films you can see at Peterborough’s Showcase Cinema De Lux and Spalding’s South Holland Centre throughout this month – with the ceremony seen as the second biggest awards show outside of the Oscars...

Skyfall and Oscar-winning American Beauty director Sam Mendes helms Britain’s-own Best Actress (Drama) nominee Olivia Colman – in this drama about an interracial love story set in an English coastal town in the early 80s.

Released: Wednesday (7.30pm) at SHC

The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy (Best Actress-nominated) dines at an exclusive remote island-based restaurant, ran by the also-nominated Ralph Fiennes’ acclaimed celebrity chef – in this macabre black comedy-horror.

Released: Next Friday (January 13) at Showcase

Best Actress (Drama) nom Cate Blanchett plays the title character, Lydia Tar, in this psychological thriller based around one of the greatest living composer/conductors – that has also received Best Picture and Best Director nods.

Released: Sunday January 22 (2pm) at SHC

Oscar-nominee Angela Bassett (What’s Love Got to Do with It) has snagged a Best Supporting Actress nod, starring as the late T’Challa’s (Chadwick Boseman’s) mother Queen Ramonda in this emotional Black Panther sequel.
