Review: Taz Thornton - Unleash Your Awesome Second Edition

In the ups and downs of life when we may need an ‘upper’ then this could be the self help book for you.

Taz Thornton, from Cowbit, a motivational speaker shares steps towards ‘the future you want to create’ in her book Unleash Your Awesome - Second Edition.

She is eager to share her experiences as a life and business coach after turning her own breakdown into a breakthrough.

I go through phases of using self help books and after chatting to Taz about her being listed in the top ten motivational speakers for International Women’s Day, I wanted to find out more.

She is a ball of positive energy having overcome trauma in her life - and as I turned 50 recently I was ready to get some advice for the new chapter in my life.

In the foreword it is suggested that you can be ‘Tazzed’ and I know that even from a chat about her achievements Taz is an empowering person.

Having written the second edition of the book in her 40s I can identify with the issues that women face as they get older.

Perimenopause being one of them, pain in my feet, a bad lower back, tiredness and weight gain among the others - so reading about these similarities that Taz writes so openly about is indeed comforting.

Sometimes a sense of a connection and common ground is all we need with another human - and talking out loud about it helps too.

I certainly have a good support system around - partner, family, friends, work colleagues, to openly talk about the natural changes now that I have hit 50!

Feeling supported during these life changes is one of the most important I think and taking action as Taz suggests is a positive start to facing a new decade of challenges.

Taz boldly sets out what being awesome means - it is an attitude to everyday life.

She highlights the biggest critic of them all - ourselves and how to beat that inner bully we are all victims to sometimes.

I recommend the book for a refreshing look at how we live our lives, even if like me you are not at rock bottom it is a restart, a reboot.

My milestone birthday reminds me of mortality, it shows how life goes so quickly - in the flash of an eye another decade is done.

Taz’s book is a reminder of my achievements - giving up alcohol for the last eight years - and how to improve on others such as exercising physically and mentally.

She sets goals and challenges and it is a book that I can dip into if I am feeling a little low.

Her gratitude challenge is particularly helpful with this when I realise what I do have rather than what I haven’t got.

From one call with Taz - who is known for her pink hair and ‘Tazziness’ - I was left feeling uplifted, valued and heard.

So thanks, Taz, for the book - it is awesome.
