Spalding Police's new PCSO has settled well in the town

A new community support officer (PCSO) has settled well in her new role.

PCSO Asta Pavilonyte started working for Spalding Police three months ago, having previously worked in the same position at Boston.

Sgt Rick Mosely is pleased with the work she has done so far.

He said: “Asta joining has been a real asset to the team because we have a fairly large eastern European population around Spalding.

“It’s a huge benefit being able to have someone in the team who can communicate with our Lithuanians.

“We’ve got a Polish PCSO as well, so we’re really lucky here.

“Asta moved from Boston three months ago and she’s loving it.”

PCSO Pavilonyte has been spearheading an initiative against ‘mate crime’ in Spalding since she took up her post.

These crimes could involve people offering services before charging unfair amounts of money, with lonely people among the most common victims.

She previously said: “Basically, they’re only your friend to get what they want.”
