Aldi 'delighted' with response to Holbeach store consultation with 144 people attending

Retail giant Aldi says the response to its bid to open a store in Holbeach has been 'overwhelmingly positive'

The budget retailer is looking to convert the South Holland District Council depot in Fleet Street into a new store - which could create 40 new jobs.

Up to 144 people went along to Aldi's public consultation in Tigers Bar and Social Club on Wednesday.

Richard Thompson, Property Director for Aldi said: “We were delighted to see so many local residents attend our public exhibition on Wednesday, September 28.

“The feedback received on the day was overwhelmingly positive and this is reflective in the overall feedback for the scheme with over 96% of respondents supporting the plans.

“This confirms our assessment that there is demand for more choice and healthy competition in Holbeach.

"If approved, our store would provide high-quality award-winning produce at affordable prices.”

Aldi has been eyeing up Holbeach for some time having put out a appeal in 2020 looking for potential sites to develop.

The proposed store, which would require planning permission from the district council, could have a sales area of 1,315metres square and 112 car parking spaces.
