Sneak peek at Spalding Flower Parade display at the pumpkin parade
Visitors will be able to get an early peek at decorations which be used in the new Spalding Flower Parade at a festival next month.
West Pinchbeck man Stephen Timewell, who began working on plans for a return of the event in June, has been updating followers on his progress.
During a livestreamed broadcast on Sunday evening, Steve told eager viewers about his exciting plans for not only the parade but other events soon to come.
He said: “On October 7, several pieces which are ready for the flower parade will go on display at Ayscoughfee Gardens as part of the Pumpkin Festival.
“We will have a stall in the garden where we will be collecting for the fund but we will also have some of the big items on display so that you can come and have a look at what we’ve made so far.”
Steve also told those watching that he will have a stand offering the same experience in the town’s Hall Place on the morning of Saturday, October 8.
The first attraction to be nearly completed is the fairy themed float which is covered in knitted and crocheted flowers made by people across the country.
Steve will be taking this float around Spalding and will put it on display outside the town’s library in the near future to publicise the event.
He said: “This is a float which has really surprised me. It looks absolutely stunning.”
Those watching also learnt that the parade line up is confirmed and full, with about 50 floats and decorated trailers set to appear, along with dancers, bands and ‘a couple of surprises’ too.
Steve also told that more than £32,000 has been raised so far through sponsorship and donations
He said: “It’s absolutely fantastic and I can’t thank you enough. The community spirit in Spalding is just incredible. I did think when I started this that we’d have issues with the finances but I’m not worried now.”
