Deeping St Nicholas paramedic Trevor Wain takes on wing walking challenge for LIVES charity

A paramedic took on a high-flying challenge in support of a good cause.

Deeping St Nicholas resident Trevor Wain (38), who has worked with the emergency services for ten years, went wing walking to raise funds for the LIVES charity.

The activity involves moving along the wings of an aeroplane during a flight - and it was the first time Trevor had tried his hand at it.

He was inspired by both the opportunity to fundraise and the chance to experience the adrenaline of a wing walk.

“It was brilliant. It was more relaxed than I was expecting,” he said.

Through his exploits, which took place at an airfield just outside Lincoln, Trevor has raised £445 for LIVES so far.

He is ‘all over’ anything to do with aviation, and hopes to work with air ambulance services at some point in the future.

This meant he didn’t go into his wing walking challenge with no experience, as he took part in a charity sky dive last year as well.

“I’m petrified of heights, believe it or not, but the sky dive was full of adrenaline. It was overshadowed by the fear factor, I suppose - my memories are quite blurred,” he said.

“Whereas this, I had no fear. My brain was telling me ‘I’m strapped in, there’s no difference sitting inside the aircraft to out, because you’re still strapped in.’”

Trevor, who serves areas like Spalding and Bourne through his job, added that if a new challenge pops up in the future, he may be tempted into giving it
a go. He has briefly considered walking over hot coal, but decided against it.
