Revamped Spalding surgery is now treating patients
The reopening of a town GP surgery site has gone down well with patients, according to health bosses.
The former Pennygate Medical Centre has been given a new lease of life as the Beechfield West Medical Centre – after being closed for some years.
Beechfield Medical Centre began seeing patients at its second surgery, which will be covering the west of the town, in October following an open day in April.
Dr Janarthanam Babu, one of the GP Partners at Beechfield said: “The branch site will offer the same services available at our main site on Beechfield Gardens and we hope to be able to expand the range of services we offer at both sites over the coming year.
“It has been our privilege to breathe a new lease of life into the building on Pennygate to open it as our branch site. We have made some minor internal layout changes to allow us to fully utilise the space and have brought the building up to date in other areas to be able to offer the best quality of service to our patients.
“Feedback from patients so far have been very positive, with most appreciating now having a choice of where they can be seen.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the local businesses and organisations that have worked with us over the duration of this project to make this possible.”
Since the open day in April, work has continued to get the surgery ready to be open to patients in October after contractual elements were finalised with the Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board.
Sarah-Jane Mills, Director for Primary Care and Community and Social Values, NHS Lincolnshire ICB said, “This is clearly good news for the people of Spalding and shows our commitment to ensuring patients have access to high quality local primary care services.”
All patients registered at Beechfield Medical Centre will have access to services at both sites. Appointments for Beechfield West must be pre-booked and will be subject to availability.
