Long Sutton Primary School marks coronation of King Charles III in style

Patriotic pupils enjoyed a colourful celebration – with a string of activities to mark the historic occasion of King Charles III’s coronation.

At Long Sutton Primary School, children teamed up to work on a collaborative piece of art displayed on the fence outside. The project was led by art teacher Keiran Whiting and featured images of British landmarks on a purple flag.

Catering manager Catrina Smith baked more than 400 cupcakes in red, white and blue – and the treats were laid out in the shape of the Union Flag before being handed out.

Pupils also took part in a treasure hunt organised by the friends of the school – and children were awarded a wooden keepsake for completing the challenge.

Head teacher Sarah Gray said: “We wanted to celebrate the King's coronation as it's such a historic occasion. We believe it's so important that our children had the opportunity to make lots of memories with their friends and bring joy to our school community.”
