Whaplode Drove youngster aged six fast becoming racing talent in Bambino Go Karting hopes for sponsorship

A six-year-old is fast becoming a contender on the racing circuit and is hoping for sponsorship.

Cole Parrish from Whaplode Drove, near Spalding took up Bambino Go-Karting in October last year - and now wants to enter the London Cup which will be featured on television.

Known as #74 Bambino Newboy, the youngster is competing in the six-to-eight years age group and in five months of racing is edging his way up the leaderboard.

Proud dad Nick Parrish said: “I egg him on.

“I said to him, if you can race as fast as them I will buy you a Bambino (go kart).

“Ten minutes later and he’s a natural.”

The youngster has raced at track centres in Tattershall, Mablethorpe and Fulbeck in Lincolnshire and has made an impression after a relatively short period of time.

Mr Parrish said: “He went from 19th place to sixth and the season has kicked off this weekend.

“One of his dreams is to compete in the Superone Kart Racing Championship.

However, this would mean that funding is needed.

Mr Parrish said: “To race at that level we would need to cover the funding.

“He lives for it.

“If we could find a sponsor it would be amazing.”

Cole has been taken under the wing of another young driver Jessie Bailey who has helped to bring on his talent.

Mr Parrish said: “It is amazing what he (Jessie) has done – Cole sees him as his idol.

“I am amazed to be fair – he (Cole) was running second fastest on the track – I couldn’t believe it.

“People are saying ‘that boy’s got something special.’

“This is only after five months over the winter and he is with these boys who are ridiculously talented.

“It makes me a bit emotional.”
