People power helping to building Spalding Flower Parade floats
People power is helping to make sure this year’s long-awaited revived Spalding Flower Parade is a feast for the eyes.
As work to bring the event together for May 13 continues, a team of 12 volunteers joined organiser Stephen Timewell at one of the many planned Float Decorating Days on Saturday.
As part of the group’s work, at Chappell’s Farm on Cowbit Road in Spalding, several floats were covered ready for fresh flowers - and the large dragon structure finally received his scales.
Steve said: “Once again, the community pulled together to make this historic event happen.
“It’s times like this that really give me goosebumps, realising how much the flower parade means to the people of Lincolnshire and beyond.”
Another day is organised for tomorrow, with all welcome to put in an hour or so.
Steve will be on site from about 11.30am, with volunteers welcome to join him at any time.
Steve added: “Anyone who’s coming along should bring some drinks and snacks - and their sense of humour too.”
