Final day due for Spalding pet store

A Spalding pet store will close its doors for the final time tomorrow.

Stamford Animal & Pet Supplies (SAPS), in Westlode Street, had announced it was due to leave its store in the town earlier this year - with the rise of online shopping and decline in the high street held up as reasons for the closure.

Tomorrow will be the final trading day - with staff then due to take stock to its Stamford and Oakham stores, which remain open.

A Facebook post from SAPS Spalding said: "As an update for our current situation our last trading day will be this Saturday 15th May.

"There will be staff at the shop the following week but they will be clearing stock and transporting it to our Stamford and Oakham shops.

"We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers health, wealth and happiness for the future it has been our pleasure to serve you."

The departure of SAPS comes as B&M prepares to leave its Winsover Road store at the end of the month - and following the high profile departure of M&S Simply Food. However, it's thought that several retailers are interested in taking on the empty Winfrey Avenue Retail Park units.
