Petition to have Spalding added to TV weather map
A campaigner wants to put Spalding on the map – literally.
South Holland District Council vice-chair Jan Whitbourn wants to see the town’s name appear of the BBC Look North weather map and has set up a petition.
“Every time I have looked when told about Spalding not being on it (the map), they have always displayed Boston and Bourne,” said Coun Whitbourn, who has been asked to fight for the town by residents in the town.
“With no disrespect to anyone, Spalding is clearly a better place to live and we deserve to be on the map instead.”
Coun Whitbourn, who has led a number of successful campaigns in 2023, such as petitioning for Spalding Railway Station to remain staffed, is now calling on locals to play their part.
She hopes people power will convince the channel and host Peter Levy to amend their map.
“A number of residents have asked me to try to get Spalding added to the weather map on BBC Look North, so all I want for Christmas is for you to sign this petition so I can send it to Peter Levy,” she added.

“For the next year, my resolution is to shout about how great our town is in the hopes we can bring in new businesses and facilities to make it even better.
“I hope you will also adopt this resolution so that alongside the millions of pounds a year in regeneration monies promised, we have a real chance to make the town better.”
