Sutton St James Primary School marks Roald Dahl's birthday in style
Children and staff at Sutton St James Community Primary School let their imagination run free when they celebrated writer Roald Dahl's birthday.
They came to school as The Big Friendly Giant, the Enormous Crocodile, Willy Wonka, Oompa Loompahs and the giraffe from The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me.
Friday, September 13, would have marked Dahl's 102nd birthday.
Head teacher, Claire Willows, said: "The day helped to inspire the children's writing and they made a real effort with their costumes which were bought or home-made, as did the teachers. The children produced some fantastic writing during the day as well as art work and topics and displays for the hall.
"They could choose to dress as a character from one of Roald Dahl's books. One of the teachers (Mr Richardson) came dressed as the Giant Peach from James and the Giant Peach."
