PICTURE GALLERY: Schools from Holbeach, Market Deeping, Moulton, Spalding, Thurlby and Weston Hills take part in dance festival

More than 80 young dancing queens and kings strutted their stuff on Tuesday at an annual schools dance festival.

The aim of the Lincolnshire South East School Sport Partnership School Games event was for primary pupils to showcase and celebrate dance work they have been doing in clubs and lessons.

The event was held at the South Holland Centre in Spalding so that the pupils can experience performing on a stage with excellent sound and lighting to an appreciative audience.

Over the day, there were eight performances from 83 dancers and all were superb. Schools taking part were Spalding High, University Academy Holbeach (UAH), Market Deeping Community, Thurlby, Spalding St Norbert's, Moulton John Harrox and Weston Hills.

Spalding High were first and second in the secondary schools contest, with UAH third.

St Norberts won the primary school category, with Market Deeping second and Thurlby third.

In support of the School Games values, organisers Agilitas Sports also judged performances on the passion shown, with a Year 10 solo from Spalding High coming out on top, with Market Deeping and UAH joint second.
