PICTURE GALLERY: Primary schools from Holbeach, Long Sutton and Spalding get together for rounders

Year 5 and 6 pupils from Spalding, Holbeach and Long Sutton took part in the School Games Rounders competition at Spalding Grammar School.

In the morning teams were randomly placed in pools with everyone playing each other.

The top two teams from each pool then went on to play for first to fourth places in the afternoon, while the other teams played for fifth to eighth places.

Spalding High School's Leadership Academy officiated the games.

Long Sutton and Spalding Parish B teams were very unlucky not to make it through to the top group and only lost out on run difference.

In the play-offs, Monkshouse went on to beat all three of the other top teams, with a thrilling decider against Moulton John Harrox who only lost that one game in the whole day.

In the other pool Long Sutton, Parish A and Parish B all won a game each but Parish B and Long Sutton squeezed ahead of Parish A with an exciting 4-4 draw.

The final placings were: 1 Monkshouse, 2 Moulton John Harrox A, 3 Moulton John Harrox B, 4 Weston Hills, 5 Whaplode, 6= Spalding Parish B, 6= Long Sutton, 8 Spalding Parish A

The School Games values of Determination, Passion, Teamwork, Honesty, Self Belief and Respect are key in all the competitions and are celebrated with an award at every event.

It was incredibly close, with final scores ranging between 62 and 74.

Monkshouse got the highest score but since they had already won gold medals and the trophy they very magnanimously offered this award to the next highest team who were John Harrox.
