Long Sutton housing development set to get the go-ahead despite objections
A large housing development is set to be given the go-ahead by planners despite objections to ‘continual planning’ in a town.
Stinders Homes’ proposal for 70 dwellings on land off Lime Walk in Long Sutton, has already been given outline planning permission.
However, this latest application, which will go before South Holland District Council’s planning committee on Thursday, will rubber stamp the plans for the housing.
A number of objections have been raised by residents and the Long Sutton Parish Council.
Comments from the Parish Council include: “The council once again are concerned due to the design that the estate will once again be sold to a housing association rather than be affordable and available for young people, first time buyers and young families.
“The council ask that conditions are placed on the developer to honour their responsibilities regarding and open spaces and verges.
“The open space in the adjacent estate is never maintained and no one knows who is responsible for it.”
The parish council also raised objection to ‘continual planning being approved for large developments in the town when there is no viable investment in providing better infrastructure’.
It argues that Section 106 funding is allocated to eduction and health services but not the the council, stating that ‘parishioners are losing out on hundreds of thousands of pounds’.
The plans state that the development would include a mix of six one bedroom houses, six two bedroom houses, 54 three bedroom houses, three four bedroom houses and one five bedroom home.
Within this, 52 of the properties would be private, five would be shared ownership and 13 would be rented.
Section 106 contributions included within the plans would see funding for two additional science laboratories at University Academy Long Sutton and a further maths classroom at University Academy
Holbeach, with £660 per dwelling for health care to improve facilities at Long Sutton Medical Centre.
