Lincolnshire County Council plans speed limit changes for 10 roads

Speed limits could be dropped on 10 roads across the county.

Lincolnshire County Council is consulting on plans to slash the speed limits on several rural roads.

The national speed limit in Counter Drain Drove, Tongue End could be cut in half for a distance of 590 metres.

The conditions of the road mean a 30mph limit is recommended under the council’s speed limit policy.

There are plans to restrict the speed of vehicles to 40mph on the A607 in Harlaxton village - a drop down from 50mph.

The new speed limit would be in place from east of The Drift to the west of Rectory Lane.

Also planned to be cut by 10mph is Risegate Road in Gosberton, which will see a 30mph speed limit introduced to the west of Beach Lane, and the B1515 Fleet Road from Holbeach to Fleet Hargate with a drop to 30mph.

Vehicles will soon be restricted to 30mph along Bridge Street in Marston and Church Gate, Hall Gate and Proudfoot Lane in Fleet.

There will be new 40mph speed limits along Main Street and Brandon Road in Hougham, the B1188 to the north and south of Scopwick, and Frampton Lane in Hubbert’s Bridge.

A new housing development has also prompted the extension of the 30mph limit on the A159 Messingham Road in Scotter to include the residential area and to Brigg Road junction.

The proposed speed limit changes are currently under consultation by Lincolnshire County Council.

Objections or representations can be made in writing to the council’s chief executive.
