Plans to erect archway welcoming public into Donington’s Flinders Park
Plans to place an archway welcoming the public into a community park have been set in motion.
Members of Donington Parish Council fear many visitors to the area struggle to find Flinders Park as it is set back from High Street along a narrow track between two homes.
At last Thursday’s meeting the idea of having signs on the street were mooted, but Coun Paul Slater was thinking bigger.
“How about having an archway at the top saying Flinders Park?” he suggested.
“You have provisions then, certainly at night when there’s an event, to light it up.”
Coun Gill Lunn liked the idea but pointed out ‘it would need to be high enough to let a fire engine through’.
Coun Jane King agreed to find out who owned the properties and seek permission to have a sign bolted to the sides.
