Spalding-based developer puts in plans for office space and new store for farm shop in Surfleet
A Spalding based developer has submitted a planning application to create a new office space which will focus on sustainability.
Kirk Homes Ltd has submitted the plans for a site to the North of Spalding Farm Shop on Scoldhall Lane in Surfleet, where the firm is hoping to replace former farm buildings with an office and yard, along with a new purpose-built store to support the Spalding Farm Shop.
Company director James Kirk says that if it is approved, the site will have a large focus on sustainability and taking care of wildlife in the area.
He said: “It’s really important to look after wildlife so we will be planting lots of wild flowers in a conservation area behind the office.
“We will also be installing beehives, a barn owl box, bird boxes and bat boxes too. Taking care of the environment is very important to us.”
The plans show that it is also hoped to install two electric car charging points within the yard.
Mr Kirk says that the company requires the new office space and yard, which will be designed to reflect traditional agricultural buildings and use sympathetic materials, to facilitate expanding the growing business.
He said: “We are growing and the new site would help us to expand the business further.
“It’s the right time for us to move forward with expanding.
“We currently employ more than 30 members of staff from the local area and have been building properties across South Holland as well as carrying a lot of infrastructure, not just in South Holland but also the south of England. It’s a positive move for the businesses despite the difficult time we all find ourselves in.”
