South Holland could benefit from economic boost and flood defence as plans unveiled for deep sea container terminal with turbine and road across The Wash to link Norfolk and Lincolnshire
Plans have been unveiled for a £2billion deep sea container terminal featuring a new road and flood defences across The Wash.
Centre Port says the renewable energy and flood infrastructure project could help to protect Lincolnshire and Norfolk from the effects of climate change and future tidal surges.
The company is also hoping to create the world’s first renewable energy driven automated container port along with creating enough green energy to power around 600,000 homes in the region.
This project would create a barrier across The Wash with a dual carriageway across the top.
Bosses say that it would create new business opportunities for south Lincolnshire on top of flood and energy benefits.
