Call for caution after collisions near junction of A16 and James Road in Crowland

Drivers are being warned to be ‘cautious’ after three collisions in as many weeks on a busy stretch of road.

Two vehicles were involved in a collision at the junction of James Road and the A16 in Crowland last Wednesday morning, with police and the ambulance service both attending the scene.

‘Minor injuries’ were suffered following the incident but there are fears that an even worse incident could occur.

Crowland Parish Council vice-chairman Philip Green has called on motorists to be careful.

“That’s the third one in three weeks,” he said.

“It’s getting regular. It (the road) has got a history so everybody should be very cautious when using the junction.”

Coun Green believes additional warning signs may encourage drivers to be more aware of their surroundings at the junction.

However, he hopes motorists will be more vigilant in the future.

“Personally, I think it’s just down to careless driving,” he added.

“It’s not a piece of road anybody should have any speed on.

“There are some trees and bushes that could probably be doing with being cut back, but other than that I think it’s apiece of road with reasonable visibility.

“I can’t understand why people are driving fast there. If somebody pulls out in front of you there’s not a lot you can do.”

Responding to Wednesday’s collision, a Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “(The incident) relates to a two-vehicle collision on the A16 James Road, Crowland. The road was closed to allow for vehicle recovery and was re-opened just before 10.30am.”

The incident was reported at 7.32am, with the road closed for about three hours.
