Boston police crack-down on bike riders
Police have been clamping down on irresponsible off-road bike riders.
Lincolnshire Police have received reports of bikers - often wearing balaclavas - riding dangerously over footpaths and bridges in Boston recently.
A 14-year-old has been arrested by for failing to stop.
A statement said: “Our officers have been patrolling Boston last week with a view to identifying irresponsible riders on off-road bikes. Those responsible have been riding dangerously over footpaths and bridges putting other members of the community in danger.
“The riders of the bikes often wear balaclavas to hide their identity. The bikes are often unroadworthy and in a dangerous condition, without test certificates or insurance. Riders often have not passed any sort of test and this adds to the complete disregard and danger shown.
“One 14-year-old was pulled off his bike last week by an officer on an unmarked bike; the rider had failed to stop and carried on driving dangerously. He was arrested and has been released under investigation while we gather evidence and complete an investigation.
“Our patrols in the area continue.”
