Police appeal for information after youths were spotted running away from Spalding barn fire
Police are appealing for witnesses after youths were said to have been spotted running from a barn fire in town.
Four crews of firefighters were called to the old Monkshouse Bulb Company building yesterday (Sunday, March 30) just before 5pm.
Emergency services had to use an aerial ladder platform to tackle the significant fire — and there’s now an investigation under way to see what caused it.
Police officers are appealing for anyone with mobile phone, CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to get in touch.
A force spokesman said: “We have received information that youths were seen running from the scene. It was reported to have been quite a significant fire with multiple fire engines in attendance.
“Our investigations are ongoing, and we are asking for anyone with mobile phone, CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at that time to get in touch. Any detail, no matter how small, could be very useful and help identify who is responsible for this crime.”
A fire spokesperson for Lincolnshire County Council said: “Crews from Spalding, Crowland, Donington and Kirton attended, as well as the aerial ladder platform from Boston. They used a breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire which caused significant damage to an outbuilding and its contents.”
