Lincolnshire Police object to Spalding store's application to sell alcohol

A store which hopes to sell alcohol from its town centre premises will discover whether its application has been successful next week.

However, Lincolnshire Police have objected to the Nida Express store on Winsover Road being granted two temporary event notices.

Helmat Hilmi has applied to sell alcohol from the grocery store for two week-long periods of time.

The first would be from Thursday, November 3 to Wednesday, November 9.

The second would take place between Friday, November 11 and Thursday, November 17.

The application asks to sell alcohol from its premises during the opening hours of 6am to midnight on weekdays and from 6am until 1am on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

South Holland District Council’s Licensing Committee will meet on Monday to discuss the application and the police’s opposition.

“The objection notices from Lincolnshire Police are based on the licensing objectives of the Prevention of Crime and Disorder, Public Safety and Public Nuisance,” the meeting report read.

The report states that Mr Hilmi is currently hoping for a permanent licence, adding; “The applicant does not currently hold a premises licence at this address, although an application has been submitted for one and is currently in the representation period.”
