Police release picture of Spalding woman Kristine Sparane’s killer

Police have now released a photograph of the Kristine Sparane’s killer.

Brian Simpson, 64, was found responsible for killing the 37-year-old mum in her home in Winsover Road, Spalding, by a jury at Lincoln Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday, May 22) in a trial of the facts as he was deemed unfit to face proceedings due to his mental health.

Kristine had suffered a number of blunt force injuries to her head and a severe skull fracture. The pathologist said these injuries were consistent with being struck with a large pepper mill, kicked and stamped on, and her head being shut in a door.

She was found lying on a bed and covered in blood after police forced entry to her two storey rented flat in Winsover Road, Spalding, on the evening of 26 November last year.

Simpson - who she allowed to stay at her property and described to friends as a ‘nuisance’ - was lying on the floor with a blood coated kitchen knife next to him, the court was told. She had also told friends that he would come to cuddle and kiss her" but she didn't want that and they were just friends.

Earlier today Lincolnshire Police said they were committed to ensuring that ‘true justice’ is upheld for Kristine and have now released Simpson’s picture.

A force statement said: “We have taken the decision to release the photograph of the man found to be responsible for killing 37-year-old Kristine Sparane.

”Our primary focus in these situations remains firmly on the victim, ensuring justice is pursued for them and their loved ones. While we provide essential coverage of the perpetrators, our commitment is to centre the impact on those affected.

”However, we feel it timely and just that we now share an image of the man who was found to be responsible for taking Kristine’s life.

”In a trial of the facts, Brian Simpson, 64, was yesterday (21 May) found to have been responsible for killing Kristine, after being deemed unfit to face a criminal trial due to his mental health.

”Judge Simon Hurst has requested further psychiatric reports be undertaken, the results of which are to be heard at a hearing scheduled for 14 July.

”Simpson continues to be detained in prison after his 37-year-old victim sustained multiple injuries to her skull ultimately leading to her untimely death.”
