Police stop 30 vehicles during speed checks in Spalding and West Pinchbeck
Thirty vehicles were stopped by police officers who are clamping down on speeding.
South Holland officers say that four drivers will be facing motoring offences after running speed checks across the area including Spalding and West Pinchbeck.
The team were out with speed guns as part of a bid to raise awareness of the Fatal 5 campaign which aims to tackle problems which can lead to collisions.
A South Holland Police Facebook post states: “On Monday, January 8, officers were active in the Spalding area conducting speed and vehicle checks to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
“This was done in line with the Fatal 5 campaign to raise awareness and ensure that motorists are remaining vigilant and are in full control of their vehicles.
“Officers attended the locations of Spalding Road , Halmer Gate, Low Road and also Six House Bank in West Pinchbeck.
“Across these locations 30 vehicles were stopped and checked and of these 3 were dealt with for speeding offences and a further vehicle was seized for having no insurance.”
Speeding is a well-known problem in South Holland with many communities calling for action to be taken to get motorists to slow down.
The Fatal 5 are:
- Careless driving
- Drink/drug driving
- Not wearing a seatbelt
- Excessive speed
- Distracted driving (including mobile phones)
Police added carelessness last year after 21 of the 48 fatalities in 2022 had “careless, reckless, in a hurry” recorded as a contributory factor.
