Lincolnshire Police urge Spalding residents with no phone signal to still call 999 in emergencies

Police have urged residents to keep calling 999 during emergencies even if they have no phone signal.

Mobile phone users in Spalding connected to several providers - including O2, Vodafone, Sky Mobile and Giff Gaff - have been without signal for the majority of today (Tuesday).

The Spalding Guardian understands a town mast, believed to be run by O2 and Vodafone, is down.

However, Lincolnshire Police says anybody in need of emergency help should still attempt to contact them via 999.

A spokesperson said: "If someone needs to make an emergency call their phone will search for any available network. Even if a mobile phone is displaying 'No Service', it's still worth dialling 999 and piggy backing onto a different network.

"Where it’s not an emergency, we’d advise people to call from a landline or report online via our website."
