West Pinchbeck villagers enjoy a pint in pop up pub
Villagers were transported back to a traditional local thanks to a pop up pub.
Husband and wife team Nick and Karen Stockdale had transformed West Pinchbeck Village Hall into a pub by adding a bar and tables over the weekend.
The couple were inspired to hold the pop up pub event on Saturday in order to promote use of the pretty village hall.
And they were over the moon with the response as around 80 people from the area popped along to support the event.
Mr Stockdale, who is chairman of the village hall committee, said: “One man said it was that it was like time travelling back to a time when you enjoyed yourself.
“He wasn’t referring to just pre-Covid but to a time 10 to 20 years ago when going to a pub wasn’t just about having a meal.
“People were playing games and darts. We had recreated a pub from 20 years ago.
“It was a spectacular success.”
Mr and Mrs Stockdale run Tilly’s Garden Party Hire and had access to a bar and tables which would be used to furnish their marquees during the wedding season.
Bar skittles, dominoes and darts were among the games that families and friends enjoyed playing.
Mr Stockdale said: “It was an evening full of smiles. I was feeling really happy that people had come and had a good time. I can understand why people used to enjoy being landlords.”
Mr Stockdale is hoping to run the pop up pub again along with other events to ensure that the village hall is well used.
There are plans to reinstate the village’s annual bonfire event and there was a Halloween event in October which attracted up to 30 people.
