Holbeach Town and Country Fayre celebrates Lincolnshire’s agricultural heritage
The team behind a popular country show is proud that some 3,000 visitors came along to celebrate the country’s agricultural heritage
Holbeach Town and Country Fayre took place on Saturday and Sunday (June 14 and 15) showcasing steam engines, tractors and classic cars while raising funds for Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
New to the arena this year was mini tractor pulling from Norfolk Mini Tractor Pullers along with hundreds of exhibitors, including Lincolnshire Food Products.
Teresa Whitwell, committee chair, said: “It was brilliant, a really good weekend.
“The weather was with us and everyone enjoyed it.
“It was a big team effort through and through and I am proud of what we have done.”
The event’s committee - around 15 members - help to run the show with a number of volunteers.
Mrs Whitwell said: “If it wasn't for the whole committee we wouldn't be able to put the show on.
“We also have around eight volunteers who help each year.
“Thankfully they keep coming back.”
The weekend fun pulled in between 2,500 and 3,000 visitors to see a parade of steam engines, vintage vehicles, chainsaw carving demonstrations plus lorries from G & CA Lombardo Ltd.
Families enjoyed games, rides, food and drink and a spitfire fly past happened on Sunday.
The event was helped by members of the Spalding Flower Committee who marshalled the car parking.
Mrs Whitwell said: “Seeing the smiles on people’s faces and everybody enjoying themselves is why we put the show on.
“All the positive feedback we get and seeing everybody happy.
“It is about putting a great show on for everyone.”
The committee will get together to decide if they will put on the show next year - which always takes place on Father’s Day weekend.
Mrs Whitwell said: “We will have a debrief meeting to see if we want to do it again next year.
“We are all volunteers.
“It takes a lot of time.”
