Spalding micropub closed to regulars while new arrangements are worked on

A popular Spalding micropub has closed its doors temporarily due to new coronavirus-related guidelines introduced by the Government this week.

Regulars at the Prior's Oven , in Sheep Market, were given the disappointing news on Wednesday after landlords were told that drinks can only be ordered from, and served at, tables and not at the bar.

The new rules came into effect on Thursday and a message on the micropub's social media page said: "To all our customers, we are extremely disappointed that the recent government guidelines mean that we will not be able to safely operate in a COVID-secure manner.

"With the new guidelines becoming law, we simply cannot continue to operate in such a small space, for the safety of our staff and customers."

Explaining matters further, the micropub's co-owner Nathan Marshall said: "We've not got any tables to be able to do table service.

"But we're working hard and, hopefully, we'll get things turned round for next week when we do have tables.

"We're doing everything we can to make sure we can open within the new guidelines."
