Popular Spalding pub The Prior's Oven to re-open tonight following refurbishment
A popular micropub will re-open this evening following a three-week refurbishment.
Spalding's The Prior's Oven - which was once again listed in this year's CAMRA's Good Beer Guide - is hoping its new-look will offer drinkers the best of both worlds.
The majority of the hexagonal bar - where customers can enjoy a good chat - has returned, while there will also be new opening times.
"When Covid happened we had to take out the bar and have just seating," explained Nathan Marshall, who owns the venue with Charlie Rawlings.
"The original bar was hexagonal which had people stood around.
"When Covid rules were relaxed we put a segment of the bar back in and it became apparent more and more of our locals preferred the bar the way it used to be.
"We haven't put all the bar back in because some customers who came, we found, liked to have a seat.
"Three quarters of the bar in now with more seating - to hopefully keep everybody happy."
The cosy venue has also been treated to a repaint and declutter since shutting its doors on Sunday, January 8.
"Everyone can come in and enjoy some local ales from 5pm tonight," Nathan added.
The Prior's Oven will now open 5pm-9pm on Thursdays, 4pm-11pm on Fridays, noon-11pm on Saturdays and noon-8pm on Sundays.
"It's a very tough industry at the moment so we've tweaked the opening times to make sure we are there next year and the following year," Nathan said.
"But we can stay open if we're busy, but if not we'll close at those times."
