Teams from Langtoft, Long Sutton, Market Deeping and Moulton get together for volleyball tournament at University Academy Holbeach
Ten teams from four primary schools competed in a School Games volleyball tournament.
The Year 5 and 6 pupils got together at the University Academy Holbeach (UAH) to play in this year’s Lincolnshire South East School Sport Partnership competition, organised by Agilitas Sports.
The School Games are a legacy of the London 2012 Olympics and, as many pupils had not played volleyball before, the day started with a session learning the rules, watching a demonstration game and some practice.
Pupils quickly picked the game up and improved as the day progressed, displaying excellent teamwork, passion and respect.
The UAH provided pupils from its Leadership Academy to officiate and they did a superb job.
Winners were Moulton John Harrox A with Langtoft’s two teams second and third.
Moulton’s B team were fourth, Long Sutton C fifth, Market Deeping A sixth and Long Sutton A and Langtoft C joint seventh.
Long Sutton B and Market Deeping B were ninth and tenth.
The School Games Values competition saw teams scored on every game based upon the respect they showed.
Winners with six votes from the umpires were the Market Deeping B team, with Long Sutton A and Moulton John Harrox B both getting five.
