Private adult party venue in Frampton wants the all-clear to continue holding events
A venue used for private adult parties wants to get the all clear to continue holding events.
Marsh Farm Cottage, in Frampton, is available for private hire for up to 150 people throughout the year, boasting an outdoor pool with pool house, seating area and bar.
It also includes part of a warehouse which has rooms that can be used in conjunction with parties, as well as offering a disco floor, bar area plus room for a band or DJ.
Now the owner - who also wants to sell alcohol from the venue - is hoping planners will give it the thumbs up to continue operating, after applying for a Lawful Development Certificate.
“I first began using the property for private parties in 2009,” explained a statutory declaration made by owner Neil Wright, who has owned the property since 2007.
“Since this date the property has been regularly used for these purposes.
The statement added that ‘parties mainly take place on Friday and Saturday evenings, but the property has been advertised as being available for booking Monday to Sunday from 6pm until midnight all year round.’
The venue is ‘advertised in select publications’ and parties average between ‘two or three a month’.
“The property can easily accommodate parties of up to 150 people at any one time,” the statement continued.
“We have ample car parking on site as there is a large concrete yard surrounding the pool and warehouse.”
The application for the Lawful Development Certificate - which acts as a means of obtaining a decision from planners that a proposed use or works do not require planning permission - was made to Boston Borough Council by Chattertons Solicitors on behalf of Mr Wright.
Mr Wright’s statement added: “Over the years I have made some improvements to the facilities and undertaken some renovation to keep the property in good condition, in particular I carried out some improvements in 2014 to bring the property into compliance with building regulations standards applicable at that time.”
A second application - for an alcohol licence - will be discussed by Boston Borough Council's Licensing Sub-Committee on Wednesday.
Mr Wright dismissed objections from locals as 'hogwash'.
One redacted objection referred to adverts for private parties on the fabswingers.com website.
Mr Wright said: “We do have adult parties here but we don’t provide sex, we just provide a safe place for people to meet.
“I don’t need a sex licence as it’s just people who come and meet. It was just to sell alcohol.
“They say it’s like a swinging club but it’s not – it’s a nice place for people to meet where there’s a pool, jacuzzi, a bar, and a dance area.”
