Work on 72-home Pinchbeck development due for November completion date

Work on 72 new homes on a former garden centre site is due to be complete in November.

Accent Housing is working with GEDA Construction and South Holland District Council on the project, which is on the former Spalding Lifestyle and Garden Centre site - next to the Johnson Hospital in Spalding Road, Pinchbeck.

The properties will be a mix of affordable one bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom semi detached homes for affordable rent and shared ownership.

The homes have been designed to be energy efficient, with timber frames and high levels of insulation.

Planning permission was granted for the development in December 2019, with construction work starting last January.

The project is part-funded by Homes England, the government body that aims to boost affordable housing levels and Accent says this can help address the ‘severe shortage’ of such properties in the area.

In May we reported that the council had identified the need for 394 more homes to cater for the growing social and council housing need in the district.

This is one of a string of developments in Pinchbeck - with more than 260 properties being built either side of Wardentree Lane, a further ten around the corner on Spalding Road, 100 due for the Keston Nurseries site in Mill Green Road and 38 planned for a field off Milestone Lane - with more due near Spalding Western Relief Road.
