Surfleet property could be used as specialist care home
A care company is asking for planners for clarification on how many people can live in a prominent village property.
Kisimul School Holdings is looking to provide a home for six adults with autism in Bridge House, Park Lane in Surfleet - which has been on the market for £625,000.
The group has lodged an application with South Holland District Council to ask if the use of the house by no more six people would be lawful under the C3 classification.
Documents lodged with the application state that the adults will be living together as a household, who will be supported by non-resident carers.
The Planning Statement said: “Care and welfare needs do not stop at 19 years of age when pupils become adults. There is a clear demand for accommodation for these adults.
“In operation, the use will have the characteristics of a residential dwelling; indeed, the property will be the long-term home of its occupants. The property is large and can potentially accommodate a large extended family.
“The site will provide long-term residential accommodation for adults with autism in a high-quality environment. Demand for specialist care facilities for people with autism is increasing.”
Kisimul Group specialises in educational and care services for children and young adults with complex learning difficulties, challenging behaviour, autism and global development delay.
It operates over two sites at Swinderby and Acacia Hall, near Market Rasen, for students aged between eight and 19 years. A further education facility is located at Thorney.
