Dads and grandads were invited into Surfleet Primary School for a Father's Day Celebration.

They took part in a 'Float your Boat' challenge where they had to construct a boat with limited resources with the help of students and then test their boat with weights.

The boat with the most weights still floating won the challenge.

And the top three holding the most weights before sinking won a small gift.

Foundation Stage/Key Stage 1 Teacher Anett Baxter said: "Everybody had a fun filled and very special time with their dads and grandads.

"The children were so excited prior to the occasion, and during the challenge they were busy helping and giving instructions to the grown ups.

"The children didn't realise that by having fun they are actually learning about materials and their uses in Science.

"Quality language and team work was the result of it.

They finished the morning session with refreshments."
