Tydd St Mary pupils enjoy den building

Pupils at Tydd St Mary Primary School enjoyed a special day den building.

Each group was tasked with building a den that would be watertight and remain so when a bucket of water was thrown over it... with them inside!

The dens were all designed differently and built with canes, sticks, cable ties and tarpaulin. After their labours, pupils were treated to snacks inside their dens before the ultimate test of their designs.

Children remained inside while buckets of water were thrown. It is fair to say that – while a few did remain completely safe and dry – many got very wet! Much to the children's disappointment, the 'penthouse den' created by one staff team remained watertight (even when bombarded by a number of additional buckets).

Head teacher Sonya Ely said: "The planning, teamwork and creativity shown by all was something every child can be proud of but the memories made and the joy the day brought will remain with them for many years to come."
