Rain doesn't stop Spalding Grammar School students celebrating their great success

Students at Spalding Grammar School were not put off by the rain when they collected their GCSE results today (Thursday).

There were plenty of happy faces as the youngsters opened their envelopes to see how well they had done in their exams.

Alex Constantin received a mix of 7s, 8s and 9s but it was a bitter sweet moment for him as he is set to move schools.

"I passed everything which is really good and I’m happy with the results I’ve got," he said.

"I've been here from year 7 and made a lot of good friends but I'm moving to Lincoln which means I need to find a new school.

"I wish I could stay here."

Alex will be taking biology, chemistry and maths A levels with the hope of going into medicine.

You couldn't stop Jack Wheatley from smiling after he collected his results - all 11 of which were 7s, 8s, and 9s.

He said: "I’m pleased - very much so. I’m ecstatic really.

"I got everything I wanted and more. While I hadn’t got my hopes up I did feel quite confident walking out of some of the exams.

"Some of them weren’t too hard.

"I got the grades I wanted so I’m staying at Spalding Grammar School to do maths, history and English language for my A levels.

"I’ll see what happens over the next two years but I would love to go into teaching eventually."

Mahmoud Abdel-Rahman was particularly pleased with his maths result in which he got an 8.

He did really well in his nine other exams too.

"I'm most proud of maths which I got an 8 in," he said.

"I think I’ve done pretty good and I’m pleased. I got all the results I wanted.

"I would like to be a vet so I’m staying here to do biology, chemistry and geography A levels so that I can hopefully do veterinary science."

Fellow student Alex Barnett is looking forward to returning to the school to study four A level subjects.

Alex was determined to do an extra exam as part of his GCSEs too.

He said: "I think I’ve done amazingly well - the results are really good and a great mix.

"I took an extra GCSE in Latin because I really wanted to do it and it wasn’t part of the curriculum.

"I want to be a solicitor possibly in the future so it’ll be useful.

"I'm going to do chemistry, history, Spanish and psychology A levels here."

Alfie Thomas found mostly 9s in his envelope of results.

The youngster came away with ten GCSEs and is planning on staying at Spalding Grammar School for his A levels.

He said: "I’m feeling chuffed. It was a lot of hard work but we get good advice too.

"I'm going to study biology, chemistry and PE as I think I’d like to do sport science at university.

"I think I’ll celebrate with a takeaway tonight. It’s simple but it always works."
