Empire Elite - based in Crowland and Spalding - needs a new home to cater for its rapid growth

A large club which encourages young people in the area to get active and find their competitive side is on the search for a new home due to its ‘rapid’ growth.

Empire Elite, which has two gyms in Crowland and Spalding, is hoping to move into one very large centre which would help to boost its already incredible success.

Founder Nikita Hudz needs a gym building with a floor space of about 4,000sq ft which will enable her team to practice their cheerleading and dancing on a competition size space.

“When we go to competitions, they perform on a nine panel floor which is essentially nine rolls of matting, measuring 12m long and 1.8m wide each,” she said.

“In the gym we only have four panels so ideally we need somewhere to fit in more panels.

“We’re doing really, really well despite practising in a smaller space and we have quite a number of kids getting involved and all of the sessions we run are nearly at the maximum of what we can fit in.

“We currently have 13 competitive teams but I can see that we will have many more teams in the near future.”

Despite practising in a smaller space, the cheer groups have seen so much success in competitions, securing their best results yet at a recent contest at the NEC Arena in Birmingham.

Seventy of their athletes competed in the biggest competition of their season - the Legacy Competition - over two days.

Nikita said: “It was a fantastic achievement overall with our cheerleading teams placing the best they ever have.

“We’re still getting great results despite practising in a smaller space.

“We’re the only competitive allstar programme in the area so it’s really important for us to be able to offer the best facility possible to these athletes, particularly as they are hoping to have it recognised as an Olympic sport.

“Spalding is growing rapidly and Crowland is quite small so it would be nice to be all in one location - trying to manage different locations can be quite tricky.

“We know from experience that people will travel to be part of a team so we want to be in a good and accessible area for everyone.”

Nikita is hopeful that someone could have a building large enough for the groups’ needs - or even a piece of land which could be built on.

She added: “We want this next home to be our permanent space so it’s got to fit us in and all us to grow too.

“We would divide it into two spaces so that we can have room to run two classes at once.

“We would consider land donation in order for us to be able to apply for national lottery support.”
