Rebuilding work on Gosberton sinkhole planned to begin 'next week'
It is hoped that work to rebuild the Gosberton sinkhole will begin next week.
However, there is currently no timeframe as to when the project will be completed.
Police and Lincolnshire County Council were called to Gosberton High Street on January 5 after a truck became stuck in the sinkhole close to the village war memorial.
"We are currently working with Anglian Water to continue repairs to equipment in the affected area that happened when the lorry wheels went into the sinkhole," a county council spokesperson said.
"The next stage of the work will be shoring up the sides of the hole so that it is safe for our team to work.
"We are hopeful that we may be able to begin the rebuild process next week.
"However, until we can get into the hole for a full assessment of what has happened and the cause of the collapse, we won't be able to give a timescale for the length of time that the complete works to reinstate the road will take."
The road is currently open, but traffic is being controlled by temporary traffic lights.
The spokesperson continued: "As soon as we can, we will let everyone know when to expect the hole to be repaired, the section of the road to be rebuilt and the junction itself to be open again.
"Whilst the works are ongoing, the A152 will remain under the control of two-way traffic lights at the site, this is for the protection of road users and the crews.
"The junction with Salem Street will remain closed until the road is reinstated."
